Authors note: This is a five paragraph essay about how the free African Americans did not have the same rights as Europeans did and how now everyone has equal rights.

If you were a slave and you were forced to work 18hrs or more a day, all you want is freedom.  When you finally get freed you find out that people still treat you like you are less than all the others.  If you were free from slavery but you had less rights than others are you really free?

How free were free blacks in the north if they had fewer rights than normal citizens? The free black in the north did not have the right of: jury duty, attend white churches, to get schooling (or very poor schooling) and most important the right to vote.  To some jury duty is a pain to attend but it is part of giving a fair trial and for blacks before the civil war it was a way to make sure that one of the was getting accused and sent to jail or even death for crimes he did not commit just because the jury is predigest against blacks. Even if they were allowed to do jury duty only the educated could attend.

Which was a problem because blacks were not allowed to attend white schools and most white schools had more ways to educate you so blacks had to make schools and churches to teach others stated in documents. Even if you got a good education from a black school and got a job as a business man most whites won’t buy anything from your business. Making it very hard to find a good occupation that has good business and is stable, which is very different then how we are to day

Today we are allot different everyone has equal rights and are treated better than they were. Now everyone is allowed to attend a jury unless they have a criminal record. We have schools that are open to everyone and hire teachers that are all races. We have churches that everyone is welcome like for example my church has a Sunday school, one of my group leaders is black. With all the laws it is impossible to do anything that was done back before the civil war.

You are not free if you are not treated equally you are on step closer to free but you are not free. Compared to today they were not free they just were not slaves.

Poems to Songs

Authors note: this is a comparison on the songs and their lyrics mood

            The authors purpose righting these poems are to show humanity building more and destroying nature. Both poems have a sadness or sympathetic feel to the mood and a regretful tone but when they get played as songs only one has the same tone and mood. The one that was different was the “Big Yellow Taxi”. When the person sang it she seemed pretty happy to me which is the complete opposite of the lyrics. While the second song seemed a lot sadder than the lyrics made it sound.  It shows us that we mostly have a different view on things than the creator does. I personally did not like both because the first one was to different to its lyrics and the second was too sad.

and I couldn’t resist making fun of them.

   

This parody poem relates to the story because it shows how people in the South didn’t like the people in the North during this time. The speaker of this poem is the girl who made fun of Ricky’s glasses and how big they were. Ricky and Bobby are the audience of this poem. The tone is misunderstanding because Ricky thought that the girl was flirting with her when she was really making fun of him. The mood was sad because Ricky didn’t realize that the girl was making fun of him.

Life is like stairs

Authors Note: this is a short response about the poem “Mother to Son”

            The poem Mother to sun has great examples of figurative language one was the metaphor of life being like stairs the older you are the higher you get. Some examples of fugitive language is there are places with splinter but I kept going and did not turn back. Which means thing happen that might make you feel bad but you have to keep going. The mood  is sort of perseverance, because the mom teaches the son about how life is hard but you just have keep going. The poem mother to son has many examples of fugitive language.

Master chief is a super soldier and the main character of the book halo first strike. He is part of a secret military experiment from when he was four years old. He was given training and medicine to make him as strong as three men. When he was younger he was special forces  fighting in a civil war between two planets. He now works for the government  of humanity to fight the alien alliance named the covenant.

 

He is as tall as a giant, he wears green  armor that is what his enemies recognize him through.  He also has a helmet with a gold visor  which no one has seen him take off. He caries a assault rifle  and a pistol . He always finds a way to get his mission done. Luck helps him like its best friend.

He is at least six feet tall, he wears green  armor with a invisible force field.  He also has a gold visor  which lets him see in farther or see clearly. He caries a assault rifle  and a pistol . He always finds a way to get his mission done. He is very lucky and mentally tough.

The Demons of Anger

Authors Note this is a five paragraph essay about the effects of anger for Cole and people from history demonstrating that anger only hurts you not help you

            When ever someone insults you to your face do you just let it slide by, or do you fight back?  When that happens to you, you feel the emotion of anger and you will more than likely will do something back to them.  Learning to control your anger is one of the most difficult challenges people have to face at one time in life. In the novel, “Touching Spirit Bear,” the main character Cole Matthews experienced many challenges in order to overcome his anger issues.

            Cole the main character from the novel touching spirit bear struggled with anger and that anger almost sends him to jail, many others in real life also have struggles with anger.  For Cole karma was very real whenever he does something bad it always comes back to hurt him. The first thing that he did that came back to him was robbing and trashing a department store and bragging about it. What happened because of that was he had to go to Juvie. When he heard he might have to go to Juvie he got mad and beat up Peter because he beat up peter he had to go to the island. If Cole had learned how to control his anger earlier he would have not got into all of this mess which is what happened for people in real life

            For some of the great leaders of history their down fall was their anger.  One of the fist first great leaders of history Alexander the great was murdered because of his rage when unsuccessful in battle.  He was not able to control his anger so his expansion was halted, if he would have been able to control his anger he would have been able to achieve a lot more. Moving forward two thousand years Napoleon was never satisfied with what he had. He expanded so much   but was never satisfied, the Russians angered him when he lost his battle leading him to make poor decisions during battle.  One of the more modern leaders but also more infamous was Adolf Hitler when he was a child his dad abused him by doing so teaching him anger and revenge although his revenge was on a much bigger scale.  There is a thin line between anger and revenge, anger is almost always followed by revenge. 

            The emotion anger is caused by your mind thinking the world or a person has done something unfair or unjust to you. Followed by the emotion of revenge, revenge is when your mind is trying to make (or at least tempt) you to restore order by evening out what has been done to you with a wrong to the person who wronged you in the first place.  Anger and revenge work hand and hand even if not with the same person.   For example Cole from the novel “Touching Spirit Bear” his anger was about him being told on for a crime he committed while his revenge was beating up peter.

            Overcoming his anger issues required Cole to go through many challenges. Anger at its least is a grudge at the most war or murder.   Even though most religions state that you should not let anger consume you, most people still give into their anger.
